"Rory was only 4 months old when my maternity leave ended. Without having anyone to care for him at home, I had to send him to daycare. He was so young. He couldn't even roll over on his own yet. He couldn't nap without being held. He was still exclusively breastfed. I cried pretty often. I missed my baby. 6 months later, I decided to take time off work, and care for him myself at home."
"Choosing to be a stay at home mom was never my plan when I was pregnant, or even when I gave birth. It was quite terrifying thinking of not having a paid job after working for 9 years, but I have absolutely no regrets. I get to spend all day with my son, watching him grow up. I am able to see his firsts, rather than just hearing about them from someone else.
It felt right for me, for my husband and for my family."
"I am lucky to be able to do this and to have a supportive husband, who was completely on board with my decision.
When Rory grows up I'd like him to know that it is okay to do something that is uncommon if all intentions are good. To follow his heart, to not be afraid, to do what he knows is best."
